Diagnosis and Treatment:
If you are age 60 or or older, you should have a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once every two years. In addition, Dr. Lee will check for signs of age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other vision disorders. Early treatment for cataract may save your vision. In the early stage, vision can be improved using glasses. Once the cataract has progressed to a point where it interferes with vision and activities of daily living, surgical removal of the cataract is the only option.
Dr. Lee offers the state of the art, no needle, no stitch, and clear cornea cataract surgery. The cataract is removed through a very small corneal incision via ultrasonic probe. The device emits ultrasound waves that soften and break up the lens so that it can be removed by suction. This procedure is called Phacoemulsification or phaco for short. The surgery is an out-patient procedure, which takes about 20 minutes, with no pain or discomfort. The patients see better immediately and able to return to work right away. Dr. Lee can also correct astigmatism at the same time with “Astigmatic Keratotomy Incisions”.
